This organization is situated near to a tribal village, Bhalunka in Cuttack district of Orissa and from last 10 years it is dedicated in serving the poor, unprivileged, untouchables in Orissa and has achieved significant milestones. This village (With more than 5000 population) is situated near (20KM) to Bhubaneswar (Capital of Orissa) and Cuttack (Another most developed city in Orissa) but there are no electricity to this village yet, the literacy rate is less than 5%. There is no access to safe drinking water. There is acute shortage of ground water such that the manual dug wells get dried 8 months in year and in rainy season they get only contaminated water for drinking and daily livelihoods. So the source of water for these tribal mass is ponds, where they take their bath as well as drink the same water.

Based on our observations and analysis we identified that more than 80% of diseases they suffer are because of contaminated water and unhygienic living practices. None of them have a toilet which intensifies unhealthy living style and making then more prone to diseases. This problem being laid over on top acute poverty is bringing them back to decades back in the society. This is one of the example, we have identified lot more villages suffering from similar situations.

We have already built an overhead tank of approx. 125,000 L capacity and providing drinking water to around 200 people of the nearby hamlet. This milestone we have achieved without any grants from any private/Govt. organization, and only through generous contribution of members/well-wishers.

However we understand this is not sufficient for covering all the tribal hamlets near to organization suffering from this problem. So we invite generous contribution from different individuals, organizations to provide safe drinking water and sanitation facilities to all these villages and for other similar villages in Orissa.
